One of the great advantages of having a friend skip a couple birthdays, is that you have an excuse to miss them too every once in a while ;)
I never really felt how eerie it was to look through 10 year old digital photos of yourself and people that you were once close with. It reminds me that those times were real and it goes to show just how little of one's life is under their own control - because so many nuances, moments, events and associations would have been edited, guided or built could one's reality be more actively managed...
After reviewing the old photos, I came to realize the biggest loss from it all wasn't him, it was just that I never had that intensity of emotion about anyone, since.
